Romantic Dining | Fab4 February 2023

Love is in the air, and food is love! Whether you’re newly coupled or long-time partners,

the 4Squares Team knows just the spot for a memorable meal with your sweetheart.

Here are our favorite spots for a romantic night with your Valentine, all of which you can

reserve through Open Table.

FiorItaly Trattoria, 417 Salem Street, Medford, MA

Italian food is often considered the food of love, and FiorItaly embodies the notion.

Named in honor of Chef Gabriele Ascione’s grandfather, Fiore, FiorItaly’s cuisine

celebrates the history and food of Ischia, a small island off of Naples. Each meal

has been carefully selected and refined by Chef Ascione, who inspires to showcase

the essence of local Italian dishes from home. Fire up your palate with the Mussels

Fra Diavlo, then savor the simplicity of Cacio de Pepe Romano (Pepper and

Romano) or the savory Ragu alla Genovese (Meat Sauce). Pair your meal with a

Chianti or Pinot Nero, and finish off with their decadent Tiramisu for a meal to

remember for ages.

Sei Bar, 182 Main Street, Medford, MA and 109 Water Street, Wakefield

Sushi is sometimes overlooked as a path to the heart but lucky for Medford residents,

Sei Bar is a hop, skip, and a jump away. The Medford location’s private dining area

offers little nooks for handholding before diving into one of their succulent, beautifully

crafted hand rolls featuring the freshest fish around. Go all-out with a sushi party boat

including Medford Maki (Grilled salmon, avocado, and cucumber, topped with tempura

crumbs, crab meat and spicy mayo) and classic favorites like Rainbow Maki and

California rolls. Sei Bar also features Thai curries, Szechuan hot entrees, and

American-style Chinese comfort food treats like Boneless Spareribs, Spring Rolls, and

General Gao’s Chicken.

The Federal Steak House, 74 Tower Road, Waltham, MA

For an evening of true decadence paired with top-tier hospitality, The Federal Steak

House can’t be beat. Representing the epitome of fine dining, The Federal focuses on

combining fresh local ingredients, a large selection of wines, and top-notch service to

complete a truly unique dining experience. Starters include their signature charcuterie

board, featuring Italian hams, house marinated olives, cornichons, fig jam and garlic

toast, which is perfectly paired with one of their fine champagnes or sparkling wines.

Seafood-lovers will relish the fresh oysters— or if you’re looking to warm your heart’s

cockles a bit— the Oysters Rockefeller or Escargots. Entrees range from classics like

Delmonico Steak, Dry-Aged, Bone-In Sirloin, Baked Stuffed Shrimp, or Roasted Duck

Breast. Polish off your meal with a sorbet, cannolis, or French Apple Cake with Brandy

Anglaise. All in all, a perfect place to take your sweetheart!

Limani, 33 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, MA

No list of romantic restaurants would be complete without paying homage to Greek

cuisine, and given the chill of February weather, there’s no better place to travel via your

plate than at Limani.

Located in Chestnut Hill, Limani is a Mediterranean seafood restaurant focusing on

traditional Greek specialties, and in their own words have come across a “plethora of

products that allow the Mediterranean diet to take its rightful place in the culinary

landscape.” Begin your evening with a glass of wine or aperitif at the ground-level wine

bar, then head upstairs to the luxurious dining room, with its sparkling starburst pendant

chandeliers, and white, light, décor, reminiscent of the Aegean seaside. Savor oysters

from both East and West Coasts, or — if you’re a little more adventurous — try the

Octopus alongside your Calamari. Entrees include whole fish Loup de Mer, and Sea

Bass or Fagri (a meatier snapper) for Two. Landlubbers will not be at a loss, though:

Lamb, Veal, and Sirloin are also featured on the menu. And of course, for dessert, there

is the classic Baklava, to end your evening on a sweet note.

This year, we'll be sharing local favorites from the 4Squares staff - Abby, Judi 411 and of course Jen - for all seasons, and from all the towns & cities we love in the greater Boston area. So every month, look for our top 4 - this month it's four fabulous dinner destinations.

Showcasing the best of the Boston-area is one of our favorite ways to help our readers (and clients!) love the way they live in Medford and beyond. Drop us a note at Jen@4SquaresRE.com and tell us your hidden gems hangouts! Want more? Subscribe to our newsletter!
