Friends Having Breakfast

Potent Potables | Fab4 March 2023

We’re in the home stretch of winter, and cabin fever is setting in! If you’re looking for an alternative to a Netflix binge, gather some friends together and toast to the days getting longer at one of these 4Squares Favorites for late-winter libations.

Medford Brewing Company, 30 Harvard Avenue, Medford, MA

After waiting with bated breath, the Medford community has its own local tap room at last! Sidle up to the sleek custom-made bar and enjoy a pint of American Pale Ale, Double IPA, or the luscious Cashmere Swirl Pastry Stout! BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) if you like and settle in for an evening of fun with neighbors and make new friends! There's been a fair bit of music to enjoy too - check out their Wednesday artist series!

What’s that you say? Medford Brewing is new to you? Get introduced with our Meet Me in Medford feature with co-founder Max Heinegg to learn about this great addition to Medford’s nightlife landscape!

Rebel Rebel Wines, 1 Bow Market Way, Somerville, MA

If you find yourself ordering the same Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay and want to spice things up, look no further than Rebel Rebel. Founded by Boston Magazine Best Sommelier award-winner Lauren Friel, Rebel Rebel bills itself as simply a bar, with minimal food and maximum expertise in natural wines that will get you out of your comfort zone and expand your palate. In short, they aim to “make learning about wine easy, accessible, and FUN AS HELL.” Check out their events page for Knitting Nights, Trivia Contests, and their signature Wine School classes.

Revolution Hall, 3 Maguire Road, Lexington, MA

More than a spin on local history, Revolution Hall offers a new way to dine, imbibe and enjoy. Think of Revolution Hall as a food court with the added benefit of beer and wine. Guests choose from a selection of libations– that you pour yourself!

Pair your potables with standard bar fares like pizza and nachos, or, if you’re craving something a little different, sous vide delicacies or functional nutrition and Ayurvedic foods. Sit, relax, and enjoy some live music, or enjoy some table tennis or cornhole while you’re finding your new favorite beverage.

Deacon Giles, 75 Canal St, Salem, MA

If spirits are more your style, then Deacon Giles is the place for you! Housed in a nondescript building reminiscent of speakeasies of yore, it features two sections: The Speakeasy Lab, a lounge-like atmosphere where bartenders measure, mix and pour some of the finest rum, vodka, and gin concoctions on the North Shore. Then there’s the Island Lounge, where tropical vibes and live music reign supreme. Libations range from classics like Hot Buttered Rum and the Sin & Tonic to the exotic Cloven Club, Rosemary’s Baby, and Grey Gardens. Have we piqued your curiosity? Then look at the menu and upcoming events at their website, www.deacongiles.com

This year, we'll be sharing local favorites from the 4Squares staff - Abby, Judi 411 and of course Jen - for all seasons, and from all the towns & cities we love in the greater Boston area. So every month, look for our top 4 - this month it's four options for a special drink.

Showcasing the best of the Boston-area is one of our favorite ways to help our readers (and clients!) love the way they live in Medford and beyond. Drop us a note at Jen@4SquaresRE.com and tell us your hidden gems hangouts! Want more? Subscribe to our newsletter!
