Most people familiar with Medford know the Medford Hillside, even if they don’t realize it. Tufts University sits atop the highest point and shines down its knowledge and contributions all over Medford. Approximately 15,000 students, faculty and staff
call Tufts home, and we couldn’t be prouder than to have them as our resident partner.
The Medford Hillside is a mix of single family, multi-family and condominium homes; as well as small businesses. Like the rest of Medford, you’ll find a mix here of renters and homeowners, both new to the city and long-time residents. With its proximity
to Somerville – especially Davis Square – Medford Hillside is an extremely popular neighborhood to live in, with properties hitting the market and being sold almost immediately.
The Medford Hillside is going to become even more popular in the coming years, with the completion of the MBTA Green Line Expansion Project and the new T stop at the intersection of Tufts University and College Avenue. Tufts is already planning for new
development of this intersection to make it both car and pedestrian friendly.
Just down the hill are some lovely eateries popular for the neighborhood. The Danish Pastry House is a hidden gem, with some of the most beautiful display cases I have ever seen. Tamper – a popular coffee house and snack shop, is also a student favorite.
The backbone of this area is Hillside Hardware – which is the perfect local hardware store that not only has everything you need, but the most helpful staff if you have questions on your do-it-yourself project.
